From client and POC go-lives, to the new Linius Partner Program, global promotion of SaaS platform Linius Video Services (LVS), and new advisory board heavy hitters, CEO Chris Richardson had plenty to say when he caught-up with TMT Analytics for the first time in 2019.
Watch the full video interview below between Richardson and Marc Kennis, Managing Director and Principal Analyst of the independent research firm.

Asked to articulate the inner-workings of Linius’ Video Virtualization Engine™, Richardson explained that the ability to leave video source files “untouched” was a key aspect of Linius’ unique capabilities: the capacity to programmatically assemble clips from multiple sources, in order to deliver hyper-personalized video experiences.
“Early last year, we announced a proof of concept trial with Warner Bros,” said Richardson. “That trial went live at the end of last year, and we expect to be reporting the results of that in the near future.”
“Viewers can go and check-out OStateTV [to see the live POC],” said Richardson. “They’re phenomenally happy with what they’re able to do. As a TV station at a university, they like to be pioneers of technology, and they’re blown away by these new capabilities.”
“Linius is at the forefront of user-centric search. Video search results are immediately returned from across multiple sources, and seamlessly stitched together in one ready-to-play clip. Linius goes beyond simply searching by keywords, descriptions and titles. Users can search for any object or person within video, find exactly what they’re looking for, and experience hyper-personalized video for the first time. No more wading through irrelevant footage and search results.”

“Our first commercial paying client, Newstag, is live,” remarked Richardson. “Their news aggregation platform is now providing hyper-personalized news streams to viewers in over 150 different countries.”

“As we’ve mentioned many times over the years, this opportunity is tremendous,” said Richardson. “And, there’s no way we’re going to go and execute it all independently. Just in video hyper-personalization alone, there’s around nine core verticals that we’re actively engaged with.
“So we can’t go get all the opportunity that there is out there ourselves. So, LVS, our SaaS platform, provides the means for anyone to come and innovate, create their own ideas, and use virtual video for their own benefit.
“Any engineer, any business, can come, sign-up, and use our APIs -- just like you would use Amazon Web Services -- and start writing software to deliver whatever they can dream of with virtual video.”

“It’s a commercial advisory board,” said Richardson. “So, specifically, they can make commercial introductions and help us navigate large companies in particular industries of interest throughout the world. That’s the model for the advisory board.
“Simon Gallagher was the former Director of Content Acquisition at Netflix, and so had exposure to the world’s largest streaming service. But, more importantly, he also had exposure to all the content providers [in their ecosystem].
“So with that exposure, and his understanding of Linius’ technology, he can really see the different possible applications across the industry, and make introductions to those content providers.”

“If we look at Camilla [Dahlin-Andersson Ph.D], she’s a former Swedish parliamentarian and, more significantly, the Chairperson of Newstag,” said Richardson. “So her connection to news industries across the world -- the hundreds and hundreds of news broadcasters, and her ability to make introductions there -- are quite meaningful to us on the news side of things.”

“Our Partner Program is really exciting,” said Richardson. “We have three pillars to our go-to-market strategy. The first of which is direct sales. Then, the idea is that we take those direct deals and POCs, and replicate those solutions through our network of channel partners.
“The new Linius Partner Program is designed to attract and retain best-of-breed partners -- from resellers, distributors, and ISVs, to referral partners and system integrators.
“The program is set-up with three tiers -- Silver, Gold and Platinum; with each tier based on annual sales volume -- and was developed in conjunction with our existing partners.
“This approach will help us aggressively grow the business and achieve success.”
“Signing Certus is really exciting,” said Richardson. “They’re the largest and fastest growing partner of IBM in Australia. So, it’s really representative of us taking the next step forward in our long-standing IBM relationship.
“We’re very excited about working with Certus and their breadth of experience in the region.”

Linius Technologies Limited (ASX: LNU) has invented and patented the Video Virtualization Engine™ (VVE), which is available on Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure and IBM Cloud.
Amazon, Microsoft and IBM are investing billions in virtualizing ‘video services’ (technologies) and Artificial Intelligence in the cloud. It is arguably the biggest battle on the internet, given that video accounts for nearly 80 percent of internet traffic.
Only Linius can expose the data that makes up the video file, making cumbersome video as flexible as all other forms of data. Accessing the data within the video file is the missing link for video cloud service providers, creating unparalleled value across the internet video industry.
Linius’ VVE-powered Video Hyper-Personalization and Search Solution enables anyone to instantly search the data within video, from across an infinite number of sources, and automatically assemble the results in a single stream on-the-fly. No human hands required.
Linius is revolutionizing the way organizations and individuals across the globe produce, deliver and consume video, enabling previously impossible hyper-personalized video experiences.
It’s a breakthrough set to disrupt entire multi-billion-dollar industries. Linius is initially focused on delivering its Video Hyper-Personalization and Search Solution to six core markets: News and Media, Sports Broadcasters and Rights Holders, Education, Corporate Communications, Security and Defense, and Sports Betting.
